Annual Engaged Scholarship Showcase

flyer for urban futures and engagement: 2024 highlights, held at the detroit center on 4/26/24

This year's Engaged Scholarship Showcase was held on April 26th, 2024 at the UM-Detroit Center! We heard from UM-Dearborn faculty (Finn Bell, Amny Shuraydi, Mike Dabkowski, and Paul Draus) and enjoyed dialogue with community partners such as CDAD, LAHC, Brilliant Detroit, and the Dearborn Department of Public Health.

Last year, the Engaged Scholarship Showcase was held on April 14th, 2023 and the keynote speaker was Jonathon Massey, Dean of UM-Ann Arbor's Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

The first annual Engaged Scholarship Showcase was held on April 8th, 2022. This showcase included two keynote speakers (Lina Dostilio and Laura Dyszlewski) and two faculty panels. The event gave faculty and staff the opportunity to learn about engaged scholarship - best practices, making long lasting connections, and collaborative work. Faculty were also able to showcase their own engaged research, with topics including: business, industry, government, community, and more.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn celebrated its 6th Annual Engagement Day on Thursday, January 23, 2020, as part of the MLK Week of Celebration on campus.

Hosted by OCEL, in close collaboration with departments across campus, this event highlights and recognizes all of the many ways in which the campus and metropolitan community has engaged in collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships over the past few years.  Engagement Day will be held in Kochoff Hall of the University Center and will showcase service projects, community-based research, community-based class/student projects, and related engaged activities.  There will be a variety of poster displays and oral presentations from students, faculty, staff, and community partners discussing collaborative projects they are working on.
